Church Ministries

You spread out the skies Over empty space
Said, “Let there be light” To a dark and formless world
Your light was born You spread out Your arms
Over empty hearts Said, “Let there be light”
To a dark and hopeless world Your Son was born
You made the world And saw that it was good
You sent Your only Son For You are good
What a wonderful Maker What a wonderful Savior
How majestic Your whispers And how humble Your love
With a strength like no other And the heart of a Father
How majesty Your whispers What a wonderful God
No eyes has fully seen How beautiful the cross
And we have only heard that faintest whispers
Of how great You are

“Do whatever He tells you”

John 2:7

“Come follow me”. Jesus said “and I will make you fishers of men”

Matthew 4:19

Conviction

“I know whom I have believed in”, is the first line of a hymn that has inspired many. It is a rare characteristic in our day to have people who have a faith, something they believe that they are truly convinced off. People today are pragmatic, no longer believing in anything that is permanent, always willing to change, to go with the flow. This makes it difficult to proclaim the truth of the gospel in our world today. There are some though who will search more deeply and that the Holy Spirit will convince of their need of a Saviour. It is our task to be faithful to our Lord, ever ready to explain the reason of our hope. This is exactly what Jesus expected of those who follow and are obedient to Him. Andy Wilson

Growing Christians

Bible study continues apace on a Thursday evening with the two groups. With Jonah and Jerusalem's Gates being the studies of the respective groups, older and younger. Jonah reflects on the God of the second chance, the prophet of God, outside of the will of God and running or indeed sailing away to Tarshish. Jerusalem's Gates is based on the book of Nehemiah. It is a spiritual tour with insights into how the characteristics of each gate correspond to some of the blessings and responsibilities of both the individual believer and the local church.

Please remember in your daily prayers those who are unable to attend the services. Pray for Ella and David McAlpine, Hugh and Wilmar Wallace and Ena Dickson.

Tribute

Last month we remembered the passing of Jean Harvey at the Thanksgiving service at Bethany. Jim Cunningham opened in prayer reflecting on the faith and service of Jean. Ian Robertson illustrated from the parable of the Good Samaritan the many admirable attributes of our sister in his acknowledgment. It was good to see so many gathered to pay their respects. Please pray for the many friends who will miss the phone calls and friendship from a caring friend.

Book Review

“Out of Egypt by Warren Henderson is a new book that is a devotional study of Exodus, ”. The book of Exodus declares God's work to deliver His people from Egypt as well as His labours to remove Egypt from His people. The book upholds the glories of Christ while exploring Exodus within the context of the whole Scripture. The book can be used either as a daily devotional or a reference source for deeper study. It is available through John Ritchie's bookshop or online.

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
