What's on

Church Ministries

Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord
who minister by night in the house of the Lord.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary
and praise the Lord.

May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.

Ian White

Sing praises to the LORD

Psalm 9:11

May all the peoples praise you.

Psalm 67:3

Dark days

At this time of year many people are wearied by the short days and long hours of darkness, longing for springtime to come. It can also be the same spiritually when we view all this going on in the world. That is when the scriptures can be of great comfort as we realise other generations of God's people have faced difficult days as well. The Psalms can be of enormous encouragement, you will notice the reference to some of them this month. The Lord is indeed with us at all times, He is the Good Shepherd who cares for His sheep. Take time to read them, meditating on them and let your heart be filled with praise for God. It is a good thing for the believer to Praise God, so take the opportunity to do that this month and be strengthened in your faith.Andy Wilson

My Special Song

"The Ian White song Praise the Lord, All You Servants of the Lord is one that became very special to me. I was not very long a Christian and went on summer mission with Linda. The song stayed with me and Linda wrote part of Psalm 134, the basis of the song, on the inside of the bible she gave me: my first bible." By Graham Vassie.

If you have a special song or hymn let us know and it can be featured on a future front cover of the Update.

Bible Teaching Weekend 28th February - 2nd March

Mission Focus

Mission Focus last month looked at the challenge of evangelism in Europe. It was from Europe that many missionaries went over the last 250 years, all over the world with the gospel. As the church has increased in these countries it has decreased in the place where the missionaries were sent from. We were looking at countries such as Albania and Belgium. There is a need to proclaim the gospel in these countries and to pray for those involved serving the Lord Jesus Christ. In Albania there is urgent prayer request for the Hiding Place in Gjirokaster, where there is a chronic water shortage. In Belgium Anne Dryburgh, commended from Dumbarton, is involved in evangelism, discipleship and pastoral care in a country where there are few evangelical Christians.

Continue to pray for those unable to attend the meetings particularly at this time of year. Pray for Ena Dickson, Hugh Wallace, Liz Muir and Betty Purss at Auchlochan.

Linwood Gospel Hall will God willing be having a Bible Teaching weekend, with the subject being, 'What does it mean to be a true Christian', with speaker, John McQouid.

Linthouse, Saturday evening Bible teaching meeting will have Roy Hill of Precious Seed as their speaker on the 15th of February.
