What's on

Church Ministries

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:31

So do not fear; for I am with you do not be dismayed, for I am your God

Isaiah 41:10

Keep the faith

There are times in the Christian life where there can be discouragements or disappointments that impact our faith. However God has provided help in His Word that teach us how we should react, for after all we are not the first believer to be in such a situation. There is a comment in the Believers Bible Commentary that is worth pondering. "In times of trouble and in discouragement, there is a tendency to question our certainties. A better policy for Christians is to believe our beliefs and doubt our doubts, rather than doubting our beliefs and believing our doubts."

Our God is the faithful one who keeps His promises and as Paul exhorts in the letter to the Philippians, Do not be anxious about anything but bring everything to our ever caring God in prayer. Andy Wilson

Camp Correspondent

Camp 2015 is finally here as we travel to Cumbria, England on the 6th to 10th of July with a full programme organised for all the campers. Camp 2015 sees us head to a new venue for the first time. Please pray for safety, good behavior and of course the weather! Most important are the services and devotions and we pray for all the campers to be challenged by Iain's message. Bethany's Camp Sunday is the 6th September which will be a good chance to look back and invite campers and parents to the church.

Sunday school

The prizegiving Sunday last month went well and enjoyed by those who came along. The speaker this year was our own Steve Moss, who gave a challenging gospel message. The strawberry tea that we had in the cafe was also appreciated. It was good to welcome children, parents and friends to the service.

Summer Sunday School begins this month with the theme this year on Paul's journeys in the Roman Empire. The programme will include a DVD clip, talk, memory verse, worksheets and food!

Mission Focus

Mission Focus looked at the events and activities Christians attend or are involved in during the summer. Mark gave a presentation looking at summer missions from; GLO teams in the UK and across Europe, the Open Air Mission and a favourite of children the United Beach Missions at the coastal resorts in Britain as well as in Europe. Summer camp work was looked at, a great source of blessing over many years. Then finally there were the Bible Teaching Conventions, held in places throughout the country, Keswick, Portstewart, Edinburgh and Cornwall.

The Joint Bible Teaching Services commenced at Renfrew in June then we will host the services at Bethany in July and be at Kilnside in August.

Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.
