What's on

Church Ministries

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

Than to be the king of a vast domain,
Or be held in sin's dread sway;
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I'd rather be true to His holy name

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs;
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead

Walk after the Lord your God

His way is perfect

Psalm 18:30

The excellence of Christ

The words on the cover have been sung by George Beverly Shea for many years and a few months ago he celebrated his 100th birthday.

There is a great challenge for all who would sing or even speak such words that we would rather have Jesus that anything that this world has to offer. Nevertheless it is such a test that the Christian should rise to, for there is no greater joy than to apply the word of Paul in Philippians chapter three when all things are counted as loss compared to knowing Christ.

May we then be people marked by our love and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ for he truly is better than riches untold. Andy Wilson

Camp Correspondent

There was a camp day out last month that was held in the Bethany Centre because of inclement weather. The day was an introduction to many of the children to camp, was enjoyed by them as well as the leaders.

This month on the 12th is the Camp coffee night that will be held at Johnstone, please pray that God will bless the evening as many parents and campers will be there.
