Church Ministries

Jesus is Lord! Creation's voice proclaims it
For by His power each tree and flower
Was planned and made
Jesus is Lord! The universe declares it
Sun, moon and stars in heaven
Cry, ‘Jesus is Lord!’

Jesus is Lord! Jesus is Lord!
Praise Him with hallelujahs
For Jesus is Lord!

Jesus is Lord! Yet from His throne eternal
In flesh He came to die in pain
On Calvary's tree
Jesus is Lord! From Him all life proceeding
Yet gave His life a ransom
Thus setting us free

Jesus is Lord! O'er sin the mighty conqueror
From death He rose, and all His foes
Shall own His name
Jesus is Lord! God sent His Holy Spirit
To show by works of power
That Jesus is Lord

Jesus Christ is Lord

Philippians 2:11

The Lord is my Rock, Fortress and Saviour

Psalm 18:2

He is Lord

Jesus Christ is Lord is words we sing in many hymns as well as choruses. They define our doctrine, belief and faith in the Son of God our Saviour. It is not only words on our lips but belief in our hearts that make this a confession of the believer. We must always remember it is a full time commitment that is required. The saying, ‘that if he is not Lord of all, He is not Lord at all’, is never more applicable than in the day we live in. It is this truth that we must proclaim to a world that needs to know the message of salvation.

Mission Focus

The mission focus last month was on the Summer Camp and although there was a Camp Sunday in July, this was an opportunity to reflect in more detail at the week at Whittaugh Park. It is greatly encouraging that the many of the leaders at Camp have come through Bethany and are using their gift serving the Lord. Look out for some of the Bible verses from Camp in the Update.

The mission focus in the months to come will include a visit from Brian Hawthorn from Renfrew, a friend of Frank McKinnon and some of the young people who went on GLO missions.

Tribute

It was with great sadness that we learned last month of the homecall of our brother Hugh Goudie. It was early in his life that Hugh trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as His Saviour, thus giving a life time commitment to following and witnessing of that saving grace that he found.

The Breaking of Bread was important to Hugh and we will always remember his help in presenting hymns, readings from the scriptures and prayers of thanksgiving for the Lord Jesus. He loved children and telling them of the Saviour, even praying with some of them when they came to faith in Christ. Organising services for the older generation was another of his gifts that he used well. His love, care and encouragement was greatly appreciated by all who knew him and this was expressed in the turnout at Bethany for the Thanksgiving Service. We will miss him greatly, none more so than Margaret his wife and companion for over fifty years. Please pray for Margaret and the family circle at this time of loss

Book Review

Love Letters to the World is a book of the inspiring story of 50 years of Postal Bible School. Bert and Wendy Gray started it in the Republic of Ireland and it is now world wide. The book recounts the amazing story of God's provision, both spiritual and practical, for this ministry, and how thousands of lives have been transformed by it. The book written by Noel Davidson is a must read and is available from any of the local Christian bookshops.
