What's on

Church Ministries

On the dark night that You were betrayed
You broke the bread in pieces
You poured the wine knowing Your life
Would soon be poured out to heal us
What love is this

Emmanuel You're God with us
And we remember You
Through Your body and Your blood
Emmanuel You gave Your life
Our hearts cry thank You
For Your sacrifice

Why would You die for someone like me
Someone so undeserving
Why would You leave Heaven's glory
To step down and carry my burdens
What love is this

Let Your blood cover me
Wash me white and set me free
Let Your blood make me clean

Matthew 1:23

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.

1 Thessalonians 1:2

As you read the update this month it will be clear that the focus is on mission and missionaries, both local and in other countries. News helps us to pray more effectively as we aware of the specific needs of those on the mission field. This is something that Paul done very well in his many letters in the New Testament. Please make it a commitment to pray for these requests from Johnstone, Renfrew and Le Havre. As well as our own mission work we are involved in Bethany. It is often stated the prayer is a potent tool at our disposal and something we should be using daily. We can be assured that God will hear and answer our prayers. Andy Wilson

GLO Johnstone

Give thanks for the completion of the building work that give a suitable area for Sunday School and crèche, for good follow-up contacts from the summer outreach programme. Pray for the Iain and Helen as they are married on 7th October; pray also that they will find a flat in Johnstone.

GLO Renfrew

Give thanks for those coming to the church as a result of the summer mission; one family has joined and others are attending the family service Pray for the schools work; lunch club, assemblies and classroom work. Pray also for the ladies' day, 29 Oct, with Pauline Wilson.

Allan and Anne Kitt

After months of talking about and preparing for our move to Le Havre, we finally made it! We spent three weeks here in August, to spend time with the Christians, start to get to know some of our neighbours and do some necessary work in the flat. We then returned to Villefranche for ten days before moving our furniture. Our farewell service there was moving and very encouraging, as the Christians we've enjoyed working alongside for several years assured us of their prayer support and interest in our new area of service. We look forward to developing links between the assemblies in Le Havre and Villefranche.

It's early days yet, but there does seem to be a good spirit among the members of the small assembly. Last Sunday we were encouraged to see a non-Christian lady at the service, invited by one of the assembly members. Regular mid-week meetings will start next week. Recent attempts to keep these going on a fortnightly basis proved unsuccessful, but since we're living on the spot there should be a guaranteed attendance of two at least! Others will join us, even if not every week.

An important meeting for the Christian bookshop in Le Havre has been called on October 4th. Like a number of Christian bookshops in France and the UK, the one here has seen a considerable drop in sales, and its future doesn't look good. Please pray for the decisions that will need to be made in the near future.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.
